Frequently Asked Questions about our Repair Services-
On-Site Brass & Woodwinds Repair - Repairs are sometimes necessary, but they don't have to be painful. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions our customers have:
Q: How Much Will it Cost?
A: If you don't have the maintenance plan (which covers normal wear and tear), you still have several options. You can either pre-approve a certain amount (our repair techs can give you an idea of what might be normal for the repair you need), or you can just have us call you with a quote before we begin work on your instrument. Either way, you'll eliminate any surprises from your repair cost.
Q: When Will I Get My Instrument Back?
A: You have several options. If you have our maintenance plan, then you are eligible for a Loaner Instrument while your instrument is being repaired. If you don't have the maintenance option, you can do a short-term rental. As to when your instrument will be ready, that will depend on what needs to be done, and the size of the repair queue.
Q: Is This Repair Covered By My Maintenance Plan?
A: For people who have the maintenance plan on the instrument, the answer is usually a resounding "Yes." The maintenance plan covers issues resulting from normal wear and tear on the instrument. A pad wearing off, a slide getting dinged, a valve guide wearing down, a bow needing to be re-haired... these are examples of normal wear and tear. Examples of abnormal wear and tear would include the instrument having a run-in with a motor vehicle, being sat on (yes, this has actually happened), or any other high-velocity, sudden-impact, or excessive load-bearing activities or encounters in which the instrument may have been involved. If there was an unrelated police officer or doctor present for the event in question, chances are that it would fall into this category. Please also note that instrument cleaning is not covered by the maintenance plan.
And remember - if you have the maintenance plan, you are eligible for a no-cost loaner (provided we have your instrument-type in stock). You just need a driver's license and credit card (a credit card is only necessary if you are not the signee on the rental contact).
Q: How Do I Clean My Instrument?
A: On our Links page, we have instructional videos about how to clean numerous types of instruments.
